Light Industrial/Warehouse Environments

Associates assigned to a light industrial, commercial packaging, or warehouse assignment are expected to learn the following General Safety Rules in addition to the safety rules for the assigned job site:

• Hard hats or bump caps must be worn
  in designated areas when required.
  
• Safety glasses with side shieldsand work gloves must be worn in designated areas and while doing specific jobs that may cause eye injuries.
  
• Certain assignments require dust
  masks and goggles.
  
• Steel toed shoes or boots are required
  for all forklift, electric pallet jack operators, and operators of PIT’s, carts, and trucks.
  
• Work boots and work shoes are
  required for all light and medium
  industrial assignments.
  
• Ear plugs or ear muffs must be worn
  in high noise/hazardous noise areas.
  
• Horseplay, illegal drugs, and alcohol
  are prohibited at all times.
  
• Keep all work areas clean and uncluttered.
  
• Stay off pallets. Do not walk on or over pallets or skids. Do not leave empty pallets on the floor.
  
• Observe all safety signs and warnings.
  
• Report any and all unsafe work conditions to us immediately.
  
• You may ONLY use the authorized
  spring-loaded safety box cutter.
  
• Use leather work gloves or cut resistant gloves when using the authorized safety box cutter.
  
• Observe all machinery safety rules and Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
  
• Do not bypass any machinery or
  powered equipment safety guards.
  
• Keeps hand and fingers away from and
  out of moving conveyor lines and operating machinery.
  
• No riders are permitted on forklifts or
  pallet jacks at any time.
  
• No person is allowed to operate a forklift, electric pallet jack, or other powered equipment unless specifically trained and authorized to use it. This is a serious safety violation and will never be tolerated.
  
• Smoke only in designated areas.
  
• Eating and drinking is only allowed in designated areas.
